What makes my computer unable to access twitter? I don't get the over capicity whale tho but weird pages. WHY?

If you don't like twitter then skip this question, I've heard it before and that is abuse of Y!A TOS thanks!

======================================鈥?br>

I'm pretty active on Twitter. Very often I get bizarre pages that don't allow me to access twitter. Usually it's page down. But today I get a gray page with this in a box:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

The other day I kept getting Yahoo homepage when Yahoo is NOT my default search engine (google is).

Why does this happen to me? And how can I fix it?

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;PLEASE NOTE: I get the same simultaneously on Firefox %26amp; on IE. I clean my cache, cookies %26amp; offline pages %26amp; IT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. Then after a while (40min or so) it comes back. Why?

Thanks!

Try messing with your internet options. Or toggling with your system restrictions. (Maybe) You should save everything on something and restart the computer with the whole starter disk and stuff

Sounds like you've got a virus.

Hello,

(ANS) Your DNS look up process has been Hi Jacked , Your computers host file has been infected or corrupted. This is a nasty hacker trick and so it means that anytime you connect with google or any of the major search engines your results will ALWAYS redirect you.

Solution is to a) delete the corrupted hosts file or b) using an editor the hosts file can easily be edited to remove the offending corruptions.

NOTE:- The hosts file normally lives in (windows XP) C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

a) make a backup copy of the old host file first, %26amp; then rename it %26quot;oldhosts%26quot;

b) edit the copied host file, remove the corrupted records. Save this as hosts.

c) restart the machine otherwise the changes won't take effect. The new host file should work. You can check its working by running a normal search engine search %26amp; testing the resulting site is not redirected as before. i.e. should work as normal.

Hope that helps? Ivan.

PS: The hosts file is just a text file so can be opened with windows notepad (NOT a word processor though, just a plain text editor only)
Please please read!!!! You defo have a virus, same happened to me!

I did the following

-downloaded Spybot Search and Distroy and ran a search for spy ware

-downloaded CCleaner, which is good for freeing up space and speeding your computer up a little, gets rid of all temporary internet files which clogs up your system too!

-downloaded AVG Free Edition and ran a scan

All of the above are free. I had to download them on a friends computer, put them onto a disk then put the disk into my laptop because I couldn't get to any websites.

It worked and my laptop has ran perfectly ever since, hope this helps

Good luck :-)
You more than likely have a trojan/virus hijacker...I would recommend joining a good security forum and post a HJT log...The experts there will help clean your computer....A good free site is linked below as well as how to post your HJT log...

Changing the host file may help...but the malware will still exist on your computer...
Don't know :D

BUT

instead of using google.com

use www.blackle.com instead

it saves energy because it doesnt use colour but is the exact same as google!!

SAVING THE PLANET!
Yes, the previous answer is correct. It definitely sounds like you've got a virus. Try running an antivirus scan and that should cure the problem.
Have you run a virus check? I have heard there are several hijackers around at the moment, I would do one sooner rather than later and keep them up to date.
Unlike typical pop-ups (stopped with available blockers) 3rd party cookies are entirely different critters. When PC's (personal confusers) misbehave, like pop-up's, going to unrequested sites, goofy warnings, etc.; one step to help reduce annoying pop-ups %26amp; unrequested websites from being displayed on your machine is to turn off 3rd party cookies, and always leave them off.

INTERNET EXPLORER: Tools%26gt; Internet Options%26gt; Privacy%26gt; Advanced: here check 'Override automatic....'; 'Allow session cookies'; 'Allow 1st party cookies'; %26amp; 'Block 3rd Party Cookies'.

FIREFOX: Tools%26gt; Options%26gt; Privacy: here UN-CHECK 'Accept 3rd Party cookies'

OPERA, et al: not sure, check under 'options' for this.

Because architecture of the Internet (notably 'Flash' scripting), vulnerabilities are readily exploited in Internet Explorer, %26amp; it is now urgent that you use Firefox WITH the 'NoScript' add-on, which will prevent %26quot;Click-jacking'.

For a somewhat detailed (but not overly tekky) explanation of all these 'Click-jacking' effects (and they are scary!) go to

Then, you'll have to ERADICATE MALWARE with Spybot, Ad Aware, and all available trusted cleaners %26amp; Anti-virus software, and suggested

TOOLS FOR SPECIFIC INFECTIONS listed from other posts in this forum.

Note: Some current 'rouge' malware will undo this change, so you might have to redo this step after malware has been eliminated.

Tell your friends to do these steps BEFORE they get infected.

For nearly ad-free pages when surfing; use Firefox with these add-ons:
