don't except files.Sounds like she got you to download the server. She was either clever as to using certain binders to get it past your av or you were not running any av at all.

How do i stop this?

Whenever i go to a search engine like google and follow a link from one of the results, it goes to a completely different page. these pages often have adult content, but seem to be other different search engines. i have tried blocking my computer from these sites - but the name changes every time. what is causing this and how do i stop it? it is annoying. i just want to be sent to the page that i am trying to get to.

you have a browser hijacker. You need to run an anti-spyware app like Ad-aware or Spybot to get rid of it.

Also try resetting your web settings. goto tools %26gt; internet options %26gt; programs tab. click the 'reset web settings' button at the bottom.

I shall confirm what the guy above me said.

Also get an anti virus program (like mcafee AVG) and do a full system scan

also get spybot search and destroy and do a scan

it should fix your problem
It sounds as though you have a virus or spyware on your computer - which has hijacked your internet browser. Scan for viruses and spyware (some tools suggested below) and possibly use a more secure browser such as Firefox or Opera which are less tolerant of hijacking.
Sounds like you might have a problem with adware, or google is getting even worse than it was for a search engine.

Try running a spyware scan with any of the free programs available. Try %26quot;Search and Destroy%26quot; a freebie easily found on download.com or try using another search engine like alltheweb.com instead of google.
Hi

There is a way to stop that follow these steps:

Step 2: In the same window Click Privacy and Click Settings and then remove all web sites you find there.

Step 3: Download this free software to block any harm web site by just typing the words for example %26quot;Adult%26quot; and you will see all adult site will never access to the internet any more

How do I delete my old facebook group from google?

Last year I created a facebook group. I deleted it today when I realized that when I google my name the facebook group and my name show up in the results. I thought the link would disapear, but it didn't; I guess I should have changed the privacy settings. Now when I click the link it just brings me to the facebook homepage, but I don't want the link there because it's showing my full name. I've tried a few times to delete the URL through the webpage removal request tool, but I've been denied everytime. I have no idea how to get facebook to modify or remove the page as google says to.

This may not be right, but I would think you will need to send a letter to facebook asking them to completely delete your account. Try customer service at facebook.......

Webshot users: Why do my pictures (in private albums) appear when I enter my member name in the Webshot's?

search engine? I was bored and did that and was totally caught off guard that some (not all) pics from my private albums showed up. I was not signed in when I did that. The albums were once public, but changed to private. In addition, I entered my member name in google to see if the private albums show up, and indeed, a few did! So I signed back into my account to make sure all the albums are private (btw, I changed the albums to private more than half a year ago). I became furious when I couldnt find any answers on their Help page and then more when I cant contact them cuz I have a free membership. So anyone know how I can keep my private stuff from coming up on the search engines both within google and webshots? I really dont want to delete the albums, but if that's the only way to not publicize my pics, then goodbye Webshots!

Any ideas? sorry for rambling on.

  • I can't get rid of a computer virus?

So my computer was infected with the vundo virus about a week ago (it had been running for almost a month, but it got so bad last week that I did something about it), and I downloaded the malwarebytes program. I ran it, it removed the virus and my computer worked fine for a few days.

The problem started yesterday after I restarted my computer for the first time since I removed the virus (I have a bad habit of leaving my computer on for long periods of time). When I started it again, it started fine then it wouldn't load anything I started and if it did load, it stopped working after a minute or two. I can load it fine in safe mode (I'm in safe mode with networking right now) and I've been trying to remove whatever is wrong with it, but nothing is working. I tried malwarebytes again and it insisted my computer was clean. I then downloaded two other vundo remover programs (VirtumundoBegone and Vundo Fix), one said my computer was clean and the other said I was infected with vundo again and then claimed it removed it. After neither of those worked, I downloaded Vcleaner, changed the name, and ran it. It worked fine until it just randomly closed during the scan without telling me it was done or had a problem or anything. It did this three times. Today, I downloaded the AVG virus removal tool, which, unfortunately, I cannot install in safe mode. I attempted to install it in %26quot;normal mode,%26quot; but it froze like every other thing I've tried to open in the past two days.

What can I do to clean my computer? What might be wrong with the Vcleaner that it keeps closing? I can't work in safe mode forever and I can't seem to find anything that effectively scans my computer and then removes whatever is harming it. I don't download ANYTHING off the internet and I only visit sites that either show up on a Google search or are big name sites that millions of people visit everyday with no problem (like Facebook or Yahoo), so I don't even know how I got this virus.
I can't get rid of a computer virus?
I've been a network administrator for over 12 years now. Here's what I do about virus and spyware infections: I backup all the documents, pictures, music, etc., and then I put in the Windows CD and have it format the hard drive and start over. That's the only way to be 100% sure that all of the infections are removed. For backing up the data files, I prefer an online file host (such as http://www.drivehq.com ) instead of a USB drive because recent viruses (like Conflicker) can infect your USB drive.

What should you back up? Almost always these days, if you just back up your %26quot;My Documents%26quot; folder (and the My Documents folders for other users on the computer), you'll have saved everything. Microsoft and third party software manufacturers are becoming very good at making sure all of your stuff goes into that folder, or a subfolder (such as My Pictures).

For the future, I recommend that you use Mozy Home Free Edition to keep your documents backed up online. Then you won't have to hesitate if you want to ever reformat your computer again. Here is a YouTube video that I made about how to use Mozy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmhAoPCmO鈥?/a>

I also recommend installing Site Advisor at http://www.siteadvisor.com. It will pop up a red balloon any time you go to a web site that has malicious downloads. It will also put red, yellow, and green icons next to your Google and Yahoo search results.

Lastly, here are my recommendations for anti-virus products:

All antivirus do just as well at detecting viruses. So the best antivirus is a free one. Here are three free ones that you can choose from:

    AVG Free Edition: http://free.grisoft.com

    Avast 4 Home: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht鈥?/a>

    Avira Antivir Personal: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avi鈥?/a>

PC Tools Antivirus Free Edition: http://www.pctools.com/free-antivirus/

    Comodo Antivirus: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/antiv鈥?/a>

    Hi

Sadly there is only one answer and its not pretty. the only real answer is a rebuild. the registry will be really confused if you try anything else.

the registry is the heart and soul of the PC.

    you have confused it.

a PC is a very simple device not as intelligent as a human, it can not deal with several changes.

A virus changed the destination and possibly name of my files, how can I find them?

    -I use windows vista

-my restore system only back to Dec. 7th, where I still have everything the same.

-i have tried google desktop, windows search and detect my files.

-the virus' name was Security Tool, it's not %100 out yet
A virus changed the destination and possibly name of my files, how can I find them?
You need to use a strong anti virus to detect and delete that virus.

Here are my suggestions (Bitdefender , Nod 32).

If this problem continues then the virus already damaged your windows , in this case you need to format your widows.

Don't download from a site you don't know or trust , believe me untrusted sites can cause alot of troubles.

Just use a reputable anti-spyware for scanning and removing everything. Alternatively try Spyware doctor, Malwarebytes or Superantispyware. These programs should help you to fix everything.
