Changing group name?

I understand that if I change the YGroup name the sign-up box outside the Group will no longer be valid. So how can I fix that to make it valid? Also: If the link to the Group at least on my own blog is corrected to the new name, will the previous name still appear on a Web list somewhere if it's typed in the Google Search box or will it disappear completely?

you can change the group name all day long- it's when you change the Url that affects things. servers need to update and sometimes that takes a while- the old name will disappear eventually and replaced by the new one

You may change the name of your group at any time, but remember: this may confuse your members!



If you change your group email address/URL:



* Any existing invitations, links, and sign-up boxes outside the Yahoo! Groups service will no longer be valid, since these refer to your old group name.

* Any message filters or email in-box assistance programs maintained by your members may have to be changed. For example, if a member has an email program that organizes incoming messages into folders, it may not be able to recognize your new group name.

* If your group has been running for some time, your members may resist any changes to the name.



Please carefully consider the implications before changing the name of a group.



OK if you want to do it anyway, here鈥檚 how:



1) From the list on the left, click Management. This link only shows up if you鈥檙e the owner of the group or a moderator with Management privileges.

2) Under %26quot;Group Settings%26quot; in the upper right, click %26quot;Description %26amp; Appearance%26quot;.

3) Click Edit next to %26quot;Web Address%26quot;.

4) Change the %26quot;Group Address%26quot;, then click Save Changes.

5) Note: We generally recommend checking the box to notify users of changes.
